Was Seth right about DCFC?
He certainly was.
Thursday, November 2, 2006 - Opera House
Opening act: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
I was super excited to see Death Cab for Cutie, having brought my laptop with me the weekend of Loren & Jason's wedding in Erie, PA just to buy the tickets. LOVE their melodic music and lyrics. But listening to them is a very different experience than seeing them perform live. They rock much harder than they sound, with Ben, the lead singer, moving his guitar back and forth to the beat of each upbeat song. He also opened the show saying to stand up..."this is a rock concert". Even with the rock show mentality, there was no compromise. The music and vocals were awesome.
Here is the setlist from what I can remember in no particular order. I may be missing a song or two.
Marching Bands of Manhattan
Your Heart is an Empty Room
The New Year
We Laugh Indoors
Crooked Teeth
Title and Registration
Photobooth (?)
A Movie Script Ending
Company Calls
What Sarah Said
I Will Follow You into the Dark
Soul Meets Body
Expo '86
Different Names for the Same Thing
Transatlanticism - encore
The Sound of Settling - encore #2
There was a segment where Ben just beat the hell out of the small drum set in the middle of the stage for several minutes. It was mesmerizing...
I practically melted during the Transatlanticism.
Clip of Your Heart is an Empty Room
Clip of I Will Follow You into the Dark
Clip of Transatlanticism (almost 5 mins long)

Happy Halloween!
Tuesday, October 31st 2006:
Can you guess who we are this year?
Since we figured it will probably be our last chance while we're still up here, we headed to Salem for Halloween to discover that while the whole town is crawling with people donning costumes, it felt more like one big frat party. Not quite as ghoulish as I would have liked, although there were certainly some interesting folks...

See you next year!
