So, with our impending move just days away, we decided to throw a last minute get-together in the area for our annual Superbowl party. Well, by the time we decided to throw it, plans had already been made with most of the folk we invited, but we rallied and had a nice, intimate gathering.
It's always hard to pay attention to the game and commercials while catching up with everyone, but there were ones that did stand out: e-trade talking baby with the vomit and the clown, fedex and giant pigeons, pepsi max's what is love, JT being dragged all over the place, and Richard Simmons almost getting run over.
We had our usual pool going, but no money was actually pooled, so it was just for kicks. It's been a while, but this time I was routing for a team to win - the Giants, of course. Living in Boston for almost 6 years hadn't suaded my loyalties, even if I haven't followed the team lately. It certainly would have made for endless headlines if the Patriots did have 19-0 season. No doubt the game will definitely be in the headlines for other reasons. Heh heh. In any case, I was the lone fan as Brian and Sheela were indifferent, both being Eagles fans, and Iva and Steve rooting for the Pats, Steve because of his general loathing of all things NY.
Originally, we thought Brian had the first three quarters with Giants 3, Patriots 7, but I just found out that the Patriots did not score in the first quarter (we really weren't paying much attention to the game at all). SO...Sheela won the first quarter. Then Brian the next two quarters, and then Steve for the final score of Giants 17, Patriots 14.
Oh, and yes, we did actually watch the AMAZING fourth quarter:

Here are the frantic plays leading up to the winning TD, starting with a do or die fourth and one:
4-1-NYG 37 (1:34) 27-B.Jacobs up the middle to NYG 39 for 2 yards (75-V.Wilfork, 93-R.Seymour).
this photo does sum up the sentiment at this critical moment

3-5-NYG 44 (1:15) (Shotgun) 10-E.Manning pass deep middle to 85-D.Tyree to NE 24 for 32 yards (37-R.Harrison)
- the UNBELIEVABLE catch that I missed in real time as I chose the most inopportune time to run to the bathroom, and everyone screaming for me to run back. Thank goodness for instant replays. Could not believe what I saw and literally freaked out with excitement.
